Title: Subliminal
Author:
speranza
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: ~3k
Rating: teen
Warnings: none
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: None given, providing the bit sentence instead:
The man arrives in the midst of foul weather. Mrs. Hudson shows him up. "Mr. (elocution lessons) Holmes?" he asks, standing (good posture) in the doorway. Sherlock ostentatiously lifts his eyes from his Blackberry, but does not otherwise move. The man (blue eyes) is wearing expensive (Fendi; SW1X; Peter Jones, David Mellor, Royal Court; fashion design; hairdressers; advertising?) glasses and (cuffs altered at least twice) a second-hand (not advertising, then) designer suit. His shoes (very interesting) are very poorly made, and he has a messenger bag slung over his shoulder.
Reccer's comments: This is an ingenious fic for its structure; it brilliantly utilizes format to give a peek into Sherlock's head. The subscript asides and clickable footnotes for his observations and deductions in the middle of the text may take a moment to get used to, but are excellent at sharing the experience of Sherlock's thoughts. It all builds into the complete picture of what's going on.
This is a short casefic and a look at Sherlock and John's relationship. Even if you are not one for Sherlock/John I'd recommend giving it a try just to experience the disjointed, claustrophobic, amazing headspace illustrated here.
