Reccer's comments: Soulmate AUs are very popular in Sherlock, in many different forms, and they were all over the kink meme for a while. In Blue Veins, lbmisscharlie takes the idea of the countdown clock and inserts it into A Study in Pink. What I think makes this fanfiction unique is the fact that it's open to interpretation whether Sherlock and John are in love, or are just soulmates who were always meant to find each other.

Reccer's comments: This is a little gem of a series that starts off with an amusing study on sleep, which then turns into a sweet and well-developed story of John and Sherlock determining just what their relationship is to each other. Sherlock is unintentionally hilarious and logical (in a way only he can be!), while John is steadfast and so John-like as he grapples with his changing relationship with Sherlock and what exactly it means to be a straight man in love with another man. I love this fic because it's funny and well-characterized with both John and Sherlock growing and developing in such a natural way. So give this series a read, and be prepared to feel ALL THE FEELS.

Excerpt:

Night 2

The second night John learns Sherlock talks in his sleep. He is teased out his slumber by a few slurred syllables which soon grow into what turns out to be a vaguely incoherent monologue about tea. John listens, fascinated, if vaguely annoyed that apparently Sherlock doesn't even shut the hell up when asleep.

John also learns Sherlock prefers to sleep in something of a dramatic belly-flop and is pushed and shoved on more than one occasion by long limbs snaking their way across the mattress. Sherlock either genuinely doesn’t wake up when John unceremoniously shoves him back, or fakes it. Either way John figures he has every right to be incredibly annoyed and contemplates smothering Sherlock with a pillow.

Night 3

The third night John learns that Sherlock not only talks in his sleep but actually answers questions, too. It might be one of the more delightfully entertaining nights of his life. He’s so incredibly amused he even takes getting accidentally swatted in the face by Sherlock’s hand in stride.

Night 7

John can't believe he's been sharing a bed with Sherlock for an entire fucking week.
