Pairing or Character: Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Gregory House
Verse: Sherlock BBC/House (with clips from Fortysomething)
Reccer's Comments:
House, modeled on Sherlock Holmes, was a red flag for crossover fans as the contemporized Sherlock's father as soon as the BBC version aired. This is the best creative work resulting from that notion that I've come across, and a beautiful illustration of what vids as vids can do.
daasgrrl uses material from Fortysomething, in which Hugh Laurie played Benedict Cumberbatch's father--both of them younger, and perfect as visual backstory for the father-son in present day. The correspondences between the two series are touching, hair-raising, and sometimes funny. I love the Wilson-Watson parallels and the drugs bust scene. Even the red coffee mug has its moment. The song, of course, is the Daddy song of Daddy-angst-songs.
If you're a fan of both shows, if you're not, if you haven't seen this yet, please watch. If you've seen it once, you've probably already watched it again.
