Title: A Little Competition
Author:
entangled_now
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: 18,000 words
Author's summary: "Still, John, a ghost story at Halloween, during a power cut, in a thunderstorm. The terribly predictable cliche of it all." Sherlock slides down in the chair until his chin touches his chest.
Rating: R
Warnings: No major triggers that I can think of, but scary stories are told within which may be a bit unsettling for some.
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Reccer's comments: One of my all-time favorites, although I could probably say that about a lot of
entangled_now's work. I suppose this is technically a Halloween story, but it's such a great read for any time. The premise is perfect: John, Sherlock and Mycroft are at 221B on a stormy Halloween night when the power goes out. To pass the time and entertain each other, they each take a turn sharing a creepy story from personal (or nearly personal) experience.
There's much humor, a bit of tea-making, some genuinely creepy moments in the tales told, and a nice touch of Sherlock/John interaction as well. And I love the way the relationship between Sherlock and Mycroft comes across in this story - very true to the show, but with maybe just a hint of a more brotherly tone in one or two spots. In fact, I adore everything about the way Sherlock comes across in this fic.
Is awesome.
