Title: The Master of Latham Hall
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kryptaria
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: 47679
Rating: Teen, so I suppose that’s PG-13.
Warnings: Nope
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: Ten years after meeting Sherlock Holmes, John Watson has successfully kept only one secret from the world's only consulting detective: the most important secret he's ever had.
Now, drawn into an impossible web of murders at Latham Hall, John learns the terrible price a man must pay for keeping certain things secret.

Reccer's comments: I should perhaps state here that, while I do enjoy a good BBC Sherlock fic, I’m very rarely blown off my feet by them. I tend to prefer ACD canon. This, though, is one of the precious exceptions. It’s a long, brilliant and very spooky case-fic – with some romance included - that kept me up reading half the night, because I just. Couldn’t. Stop. The story is divided two parallel timelines, one of which features exclusively OCs (but they fit in beautifully and I really felt for them); of course, both are equally relevant for the eventual solution. Also, I could see this one totally happen in canon (if given a supernatural twist). With some minor changes the original characters would fit in just as nicely as their modern counterparts.
By the way, this story’s already been mentioned in the Open Recs Weekend a few months ago, but it totally deserves to be recced individually. It’s just that good.

Note to mods: This would need a tag for "spookiness", "supernatural" or something of the kind, but the closest I've found is "halloween". Will that do?
