Fic rec: Marriage a Trois

Title: Marriage á Trois
Author: Sorrel

Pairing: John/Mary/Sherlock
Length: 33,296
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: none
Verse: Ritchie films
Author's summary: In the aftermath of the Blackwood case, Mary determines that if she wants to have a successful marriage, she must find a way to integrate Holmes into her relationship with John. It's a decision that will have a number of unforeseen consequences, as she becomes far closer with the famous detective than she ever could have imagined.

Reccer's comments:  Hands-down, this is my favorite characterization of Mary Watson née Morstan.   Sorrel has written her as a believably strong 19th century female protagonist.  Her determined campaign to win the respect of her husband’s dearest friend is written as such a logical progression that the ending seems inevitable.  The story is not very explicit, but it still sizzles with the energy between the three strong personalities.  Even if you aren’t normally a fan of the Ritchieverse, this story is worth a try just for the chance to see Sherlock through Mary’s eyes.   One caution – if you start this in the evening be prepared to lose sleep – once started it is hard to stop!
