Author's summary:Written for a prompt at sherlockbbc_fic. Faced with a case where a rape victim murdered his attacker, Sherlock finds himself without the required knowledge to solve the crime. He performs an experiment on John, the most suitable subject - but the fall-out is far more shattering than he could have anticipated.
Reccer's comments: This is hard reading, absolutely heartbreaking, but worth it if you can get through it. I know this was recced on another reccing comm a few days ago but I want to rec it here too. There's a bit of a twist in the plot, but it's really the characterisation here that makes the fic for me. Sherlock's voice is perfect, sociopathic and so blind to some of the consequences. John is stoic and brittle. It had me in tears.

I dunno if I should thank you or hate you for reccing this. I was all "Oh, lovely! A new fic to read before going to sleep", and then I actually started to read and my face was literally shaped like D: the whole time. But then, it was so compelling and well written that I had to finish it.

In the end, I must thank you for reccing this. It was horrible, but at the same time one of the best things I've ever read for this fandom. <3
