Move to Pinboard! + A word on the spreadsheet!
Hi guys,
Two important archive-things!
1)
I wanted to let you know that 221B Recs has finally left the ever sinking disaster ship that is delicious.
You can now find our archive at pinboard! \o/
We're almost caught up on recs there. February's posts should be up shortly.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to
iamshadow, our tireless archiver.
2)
There've been a number of double recs in the past few months. One reason for this seems to be that reccers can't always find a fic on the spreadsheet, even though it's on there.
Here are a few pointers to help you navigate it:
- Make sure the entire spreadsheet has loaded before trying to search it. You need to scroll all the way down to the end to make sure it is fully loaded. You can sort the entries by author by clicking on the top of the author column (A), then in the top menu click on Data and choose 'Sort Sheet by column A, A-Z'. Do NOT click on Sort Range as that will unlink the authors from the stories.
- If someone has applied a filter to the spreadsheet, it will not display all of the entries. You can tell if a filter is applied because there will be a small funnel symbol at the top of the filtered column. To turn all of the filters off, toggle the funnel symbol in the toolbar menu (second symbol from the right).
Credit for these search tips goes to
swissmarg, who's been kindly archiving things there. A big thank you to her as well!
* ETA: The guidelines page has now been updated to include directions for the search in the spreadsheet. You can also find them on the top of the spreadsheet itself.

I wonder if these instructions could be placed somewhere where people using the spreadsheet can see them. Some sort of header field perhaps at the top of the spreadsheet? Otherwise maybe a page with instructions and then a link to the spread sheet at the bottom? (and maybe one at the top for people who are familiar with these tips).
Just brainstorming here. Not sure how feasible my suggestions are...

I tested the spreadsheet. Placing those instructions in red was smart; they quickly caught my eye.
One correction: I checked Mazaher and Jns's Intersections and found there are now three entries (Two are by PennyPaperBrain, 1 by me). I think that happened because one rec by PPB is marked Gen, whereas the other is M/M, plus one of PPB's entries capitalized the authors' names, the other didn't. Having read the work, I can tell you it's probably most accurate to call it gen, as it's focused on Sherlock and Mycroft during the Fall. The S/J is very much in the background and ambiguous in this part of the 'verse.

We're working on it.
