Fic Rec: Civilisation
Title: Civilisation
Author: eyebrowofdoom
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/Joan Watson
Length: 1,221
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: None
Verse: Elementary
Author's summary: He stands very still, the body language of a person who is anxious about whether he is doing something right. (Established relationship vignette.)
Reccer's comments:
This fic is just six short scenes, during which nothing of note particularly happens, and yet it’s such a rich portrait of Joan & Sherlock’s relationship somewhere vaguely far in the future. eyebrowofdoom manages to capture really well Sherlock’s discomfort in his body and contrasts it really beautifully with how grounded Joan is. And this Joan has some absolutely lovely sharp edges, in full ownership of her own desires even as she thinks they aren’t quite good. It’s filled with absolutely gem-like moments of humor and pathos that manage to avoid the trap of excessive sentimentality.
