Fic Rec: Change And Compromise, Or: Living With Sherlock Holmes
Title: Change And Compromise, Or: Living With Sherlock Holmes
Author:
sobota
Pairing: John/Sherlock
Length: 2089
Rating: PG13
Warnings: slightly disturbing imagery
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Based on the prompt:John DOESN'T try to change Sherlock.
[...]John finds Sherlock infuriating as he is, but it's also part of why he likes him. He doesn't want Sherlock any other way. He's not a saint for putting up with it, it's just what friends do.
Reccer's comments: I know there are a lot of fics out there about John's and Sherlock's daily trials in sharing an apartment, but this is one I love particularly.
sobota divided it into several themed parts which works really well in giving us glimpses of what John puts up with on a daily basis. Bless him.
The humour is wonderfully dry and understated, and everything in this just rings true. Especially the character voices - I can hear Benedict and Martin saying these lines in my head while reading. I love when that happens!
Additional note: I can't really call it gen because of the ending, but the slash is extremely mild.
