Author's summary: Post "The Reichenbach Fall" - Lestrade has no idea what he meant to Sherlock.
A wrenching, but satisfying glimpse of John and Lestrade after Sherlock's "death." The characters shine as they shift into new roles, form a new partnership, and set out do what needs to be done.
"You know he's not a fake, right?" said John as they put on their jackets at the door.
"Of course I know. I did all the bloody legwork on those cases, collected every piece of sodding evidence myself. No thanks to his royal highness with his dramatic pronouncements and then fucking off again, coat flapping like a bat from Savile Row."
Sherlock could solve this crime... flapping his coat and making a grand exit. John and Lestrade will prove it, because they're that good.
